WSQ Workplace Communication to Improve Relationship & Resilience (Level 2)

Build mutual trust within the workplace with effective communication techniques

To perform effectively at the workplace, it is important for learners to develop and maintain positive relationships and mutual trust with others. To achieve that, effective communication is key. Globalisation, along with the need to rely on foreign talent, has resulted in creating a more diverse workforce in many organisations in Singapore. Learners thus start the course by acquiring skills and knowledge that contribute to effective communication and hence lay a good foundation for building fruitful relationships with co-workers.

By the end of topic, learners will be able to effectively apply interpersonal and communication techniques as well as a range of communication styles and approaches when interacting at the workplace.

You will learn:

  • Principles of effective communications and interpersonal techniques

  • Modes of communication and communication tools and their characteristics

  • Social and cultural differences that impact communications

  • Barriers to effective communications

  • Appropriate communication styles and approaches

  • Apply effective communication techniques when interacting at the workplace

  • Apply a range of communication styles and approaches when engaging with different audiences

Maintain positive relationships at the workplace with effective communication

With a good foundation laid, learners will then be exposed to communications in the organisational context, which is significantly different compared to that in the personal conversations.

Even within the organisation, communication can take place in formal or informal settings. Learners thus need to learn to apply appropriate techniques and adhere to organisational and professional standards relating to communications.

Different situations and settings may call for different communication techniques and tools. Learners will build on the techniques that they have learnt in previous topic to create clear lines of communication within the workplace. By the end of this topic,  learners will be able to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to develop and maintain positive relationships and mutual trust within the workplace.

You will learn:

  • Organisational and professional standards relating to communications

  • Sources of information within and outside the organisation

  • Interpret and respond to information received

  • Use appropriate communication techniques and tools to suit different communication styles within formal and informal settings

  • Use effective communication techniques to create clear lines of communication within the workplace
